WHY YOU WANT THE AEM KIT
AEM’s Water / Methanol Injection Kit includes all the parts and features necessary to do water/methanol injection right. No hidden costs or optional components are required. Unlike other popular kits on the market, there are two tank options; a one- or five-gallon tank with a fluid level sensor standard. The compact, one-gallon reservoir is intended for racecar applications where every pound of weight saved is critical. It is also ideal for those who drive mildly and run at wide-open-throttle sparingly and want to retain as much trunk space as possible while gaining the benefits of a water / methanol injection system. The five gallon reservoir is included in the BRUTE FORCE HD Water/Methanol Injection kit; allowing for extended range. The AEM kit also makes engine protection a requirement, not an option. Included is a Boost Safe output in every controller AEM offers. Critical safety features are integrated into the system to virtually eliminate any chance of failure, including an integral fluid level sensor in the reservoir, a dash light to warn of low fluid level or error codes (including short circuits, battery voltage and more), and an additional output to either decrease ignition timing or boost if the system detects low fluid levels or a system error. This allows you to retard timing or reduce boost via a ground output if the system runs out of fluid or detects an error. With the AEM Water / Methanol Injection Kit, you get all the best features in one low priced kit.

HOW IT WORKS
Once installed, the Water / Methanol Injection Kit uses a boost-dependent, variable-flow progressive controller to determine the amount of water / methanol mixture (up to 50%) to feed into the inlet stream from the included one- or five-gallon reservoir. The controller commands a progressive 150-PSI pump that delivers the mixture, and flow adjustments at the inlet are made via two different-sized jets (included) that are designed to match most engine power requirements. The result is significant horsepower gains using pump gas—at about half the cost of Racing Fuel.

TERMINOLOGY EXPLAINED
By now you’ve most likely heard various terms in reference to water/methanol injection systems. Some refer to these systems as just water injection, methanol injection, and/or meth injection for short. In addition to those terms, these systems are often referred to as alcohol injection or water/alcohol injection. The bottom line is all of these terms are used to reference the same type of system.
What some may or may not know is that methanol is known as methyl-alcohol. Methanol’s scientific name is where the “alcohol” variant name has come from. Essentially, alcohol and methanol is the same thing, however there are different types of alcohol. |
